I'm sitting here in a very sticky computer room and listing to the now far thunderstorm. My first month in Medellin, Columbia is already gone and I've decided to write down my experiences. How i ended up here? Well, it started with a busride, back home ion good old Germany. One month later I had a very hot and wonderful boyfriend from Colombia, Alejo. And when he had to return seven months ago I took up a job, worked as much as I could without failing my studies and here I am.

Before I got here I was a pain in the ass. I had been sick for a longer time and now i was working a lot and catching up on my studies on the same time. I tend to be a not so nice person being under heavy stress,  but I'm lucky. I have a great family and lovely friends. I live with some of my friends and it works just fine.

So, when I finally bought the tickets I started to count the days. I told everyone, if asked for it or not, about my trip. My most favourite conversation at that time mostly went like this:

"Hmm, you?" (Very giddy, giddy me)

"Yes?" (Poor friend that was already suspiscious)

"You know what?" (Being even more giddy)

"No" (Sighing before the other knew exactly what, but was mostly nice enough to play along. Or maybe just giving up on resisting)

"I'm going to Colombia!!!!!" (Some mix between shouting and grinning: Shrinning)

I worked up to one week before the flight then went home to parents. Finally the flight. flight itself had some bumpy periods, but besides that was fine. 20 hours stay at Caracas was not so nice. It was not really the stay that was annoying, I can be very patience. The difficult part was: I was the only one in transit and no one really understood me. On an international airport. At some point I just called Alejo and handed him to the Lady at the information desk. So after a night on a chilly chair with very cheerfull Indian neighbours that were watching Bollywood movies the whole damn night I finally arrived. Very tired, stressed out and without luggage in Medellin.

If you have ever been far away from home and most importantly without understanding the language the first few days are just overwhelming. So much new things, some familiar, some slightly familiar, some of it never seen before and some of it completely unexpected. Those are the things I want to talk about. After all, that's what makes travelling so exciting and worthwhile. Adding experience and broading your own horizont.

So long, hasta luego and Knuddelz
